“Scarecrow” by John Brannen really stands out among other country albums. His lyrics are deep and meaningful while his melodies are smooth and haunting.
It is hard not to instantly fall in love with this album. Track 7 “(Somebody Said The) Scarecrow” is a particular favorite of mine. It’s a song about leaving the old routines behind and moving out into the world to rediscover yourself. It’s hard to listen to without having it tug on your heart string.
Another stand out track is number 6 “Say Goodbye To Babylon”. The strong vocals really shine through on this one. You can hear the heart of country singer who has seen too many days on the road.
All in all this is a great album and a person favorite in my collection. If you like country even a little bit you’ll love “Scarecrow”.
