About
Alchemy: al·che·my (n) A magical power or process of transmuting a common substance into a substance of great value.
JD’s Musical Alchemy is your bi-weekly half hour review of great “indie” rock, pop, and more: a safe haven for the bands that the major record labels just aren’t bright enough to pick up. The show comes to you from Newberg, Oregon in the great Pacific Northwest. Every other week we will explore “indie” music from great bands such as Dagmar, The Des Moine Riot, Enter the Haggis, The Alice Project, and Doc Bates just to name a few.
Your host, Jim Davies, is a resident of Newberg, Oregon. He loves music about as much as he loves technology. As a youngster his passion for music lead to various attempts at learning to play musical instruments although it never led to any significant success. The process of trying to learn did however give him a great appreciation for music in general and he developed a taste for all styles of music.
Podcasting isn’t something that came naturally but his love for music and desire to get “involved” with music in some way gave birth to JD’s Musical Alchemy. Jim is constantly searching the internet and looking for the best “indie” bands and labels to bring to your ears.
It is our hope that in addition to enjoying the music that you’ll find new bands that you will want to go out and hear more of. So put on your headphones or turn up your speakers and come join us in making musical alchemy.

just stopped by to say hi! =) did you used to work in radio too…?
Thanks for stopping by.
Actually no. As a youngster I was very involved in the various community ventures related to music though and have even spent some time learning to play a few instruments and writing music myself.
Music has been a very prominent part of my life for as long as I can remember and this is the first chance I’ve had to really make a difference by way of bringing the music and the listeners together.
keep it up! i think you’re doing a great thing.
