The Winter Sounds on MTV U

The Winter Sounds are currently in the running on the mtvU show The Freshmen.

You might remember hearing them here back on Episode 26. We also took a look at their video “Windy City Nights” back in July. It just so happens this is the video that is in the running.

In The Freshmen, 5 freshmen videos go up against each other for voting on a weekly basis. The winner goes in to rotation on mtvU.

If you would like to show your support by voting for them you can visit their video page over on mtvU and click the vote button. You can also vote on your mobile phone by texting the word FRESHMEN to 22422. Voting begins Monday 10/8/07 and runs through Friday 10/12/07. The winners will be announced online and on the air Monday 10/15/07.

Phil Ayoub appeared on Backstage with Barry Nolan. The video includes an interview as well as a performance of “No Heart Ache” from Phil’s CD “Schoolbus Window Paper Heart”.

In the last episode of JDMA we got to hear “Windy City Nights” from The Winter Sounds. Turns the video was just released and I think it came out pretty good. It looks like they had allot of fun making it.

The Des Moine Riot to play live at The Ark in August

On Friday August 24th, The Des Moine Riot will be playing live at The Ark music venue. The Ark is a live music venue in Edinburgh that starts July 19th. It is located where Trafalgar Suite used to be above the Waterloo Buffet.

DMR stated that they will be premering brand new material so this would be a must see for any DMR fans. Doors open at 7:30pm with ticket price to be confirmed.

Sorry for the delay getting Friday’s show out. Everything for episode 26 is lined up and ready to go but I haven’t been able to find the time to sit down and record. I’m not planning on skipping it and should have it out for you early this week. After that, I hope to be back on schedule again. Thanks for your patience.

Mark Holt and Kimbery Holt Tully at Two Mountain Winery in June

Mark Holt and Kimberlee Holt Tully will be playing at Two Mountain Winery in Zillah, Washington on Saturday June 16th, 2007 at 1:00pm. They will be providing music for a “Chalk Party” benefit for Healing Hands on Horseback. Proceeds will benefit the Pegasus Therapeutic Riding Center.

Pegasus Therapeutic Riding Centers was founded in 1975, they were determined to bring the benefits and joys of horseback riding to the disabled. Today Pegasus has become on of the largest and most highly regarded therapeutic riding programs in the United States.

Dagmar 2 Accepted Into MUNY

On May 15th Music Under New York (MUNY) held its annual auditions. MUNY is a program designed to increase the appeal of New York’s underground transit system by bringing quality music to the underground stations. Not only does the program improve the atmosphere of the underground but it provides the artists a support structure to help them finding the right time and places to play without stepping on each other.

Dagmar 2 attended the audition and produced this great video about their experience. I have since learned that they were accepted into the MUNY program and we’d like to offer them our congratulations. If you find yourself on the NY underground keep your eyes and ears open for Dagmar 2.

Today I added support for reCAPTCHA to the site to help cut down on the comment spam. This is a unique service that not only helps block spam bots but every time you enter a captcha you’ll be helping with digitalizing books to preserve literature.

A captcha is a visual test that attempts to ensure that the form being validated is being filled out by a human. It does this by displaying a slightly distorted image of text and prompting the user to interpret that text.
